The Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangladesh (NCCI), held its 2nd Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 24th April 2012 in Ericsson Headquarters in Gulshan, Dhaka.

NCCI President Arild Klokkerhaug welcomed the members to the Annual General Meeting. An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) was held prior to the AGM, to consider proposals for amendment in the Articles of Association of Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and their adoption. NCCI Executive Director Hasan Fatheme, moderated the meeting and discussed the set of amendments to NCCI Articles for member’s approval. All the amendments were unanimously approved by the members.

The AGM commenced with the unanimous approval of the minutes of last AGM held on March 29, 2012. NCCI Executive Director presented the Annual Report for the year 2011, highlighting the events and underlining the achievements in NCCI’s first year of operation. The members were invited to present their views. Since, there were no queries from the members, the annual report was adopted.

NCCI audited accounts for 2011 were presented before the members. Mr. Snehasish Barua, Syful Shamsul Alam & Co, audited NCCI accounts and did not raise any objections. As there were no remarks from the members, the auditor’s report was adopted. Kjersti Thoen, NCCI Treasurer, presented the budget for 2012 to the members. She provided a brief overview on the current state of chamber’s financial health. The annual budget was approved by the members.

NCCI Executive Director recommended appointing Syful Shamsul Alam & Co., Chartered Accountants, as the Statutory Auditor of Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangladesh for the financial year 2012. The resolution was unanimously approved by the members.

NCCI Executive Director informed the members that the Chamber received only two nominations from members who are already a part of the Governing Body. Therefore, the current Executive Committee will continue to operate and manage the Chamber for a second term. NCCI Secretary General Quazi M. Ahmed resigned from the post of Secretary General on 25th March 2012. NCCI Executive Director Hasan Fatheme, on behalf of the NCCI Election Commission, informed the members of the vacancy in the Executive Committee. Mr. A Rajan Kumar, Managing Director of Novo Nordisk Pharma (Pvt) Ltd, was elected uncontested.

Post election, NCCI President Arild Klokkerhaug and Vice President Per-Henrik Nielsen invited the members to engage in an open discussion on their expectations from the Chamber. The members provided valuable inputs on the kinds of events, issues and activities that the Chamber should pursue. The General Meeting was also attended by the Officials of Royal Danish Embassy and Royal Norwegian Embassy. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by both the President & the Vice President. They expressed gratitude to all the members for attending the general meeting and supporting the Chamber in its endeavors. The program ended with a networking session among members and invited guests over light refreshments.
