Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) held an Information Session on eAsia 2011 for its members on September 25, 2011 at Ericsson Bangladesh Headquarter in Dhaka. The session was addressed by members of the Organizing Committee Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Adviser of Access to Information Programme (A2I) in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and Mr. Mohammad Enamul Kabir, Secretary of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), a statutory body under the Ministry of Information & Communication Technology.

The session was a unique opportunity for Nordic companies to put forward the contribution it can make in terms of e-governance, citizen services, ICT for development etc., and also to display and promote the strong partnership between public and private services seen in the Nordic region. The Nordic Chamber was offered a free Country pavilion to showcase ICT developments and innovation of its member companies. A request was also made by the Organizers to bring Nordic speakers for their conference and plenary sessions. NCCI agreed to provide full support and cooperation towards eAsia initiatives. NCCI members present in the session also agreed that a successful presence can hopefully lead to more Nordic involvement for building digital citizen services in Bangladesh. Nordic countries, especially Denmark, have contributed significantly towards ICT development in form of many successful joint ventures through the Danida Business Partnership Programme.

The programme was attended by Her Excellency Ragne Birte Lund, Ambassador of Norway, NCCI Members, Representatives of Nordic Embassies and a Business Delegation from Norway.
